Who Am I?

I know, I know.
You’re all like, “Who the hell is this Marissa chick?!”
Right? Right.
Well…keep wondering! Ha! Okay, no, just kidding.

I figure the best way to introduce myself is to show you a few pictures.

I took this on a recent trip to Paris.

Paris!

What? This has been done before?
Okay, how about my trip to New York?

Okay maybe not. I’m just a girl who likes to make shapes.

First Release!

Hello there FashionPlanet!

I did not anticipate being put on the list quite so fast while my store is still a work in progress. That being said, I noticed a lot of…shall I say… important members of the Fashion Community here in Second Life visiting taco taco taco. I do wish they had more to see and that things were more organized in my shop.

I actually have three shops right now, but my main store is the one I am working on the hardest at the moment, not to mention it has the most shapes.

Because I am aquiring a fourth set of land for a bigger store, I’ve decided to hold a Grand Opening next week starting Wednesday, November 7th in which I will be giving out free gifts and drastically reducing the prices of all my shapes! :)

Before we begin, I’d like to acknowledge that I have put a notecard in each shape’s taco (if you buy one you’ll see) that lists the skins and hair and eyes, with landmarks on where to get them all. :)

Now on to the releases!

First up is Amy! She is petite and spunky, a girly girl who knows how to hang with the boys.

Amy Vendor

Next we have Daniel. Daniel is a very sexy avatar. He is definitely a ladies man, but I am fairly certain he goes both ways. ;)

Daniel Vendor

Next up is Anabel. Anabel is tall, thin, gorgeous. Girls want to be her, and guys want to date her. She isn’t stuck up about her looks, however.

Anabel Vendor

Jacqueline is unique looking. ‘Nuff said. She doesn’t want her feelings hurt.

Jacqueline Vendor

Shelly is a plus-sized goddess. Her love handles don’t hold her back. She is tall, busty, absolutely gorgeous and knows it!

Shelly Vendor

Last but not least, I introduce Burneta. She is larger than your average avatar, but nice as can be.

Burneta Vendor

Come on over, try a demo at taco taco taco!

Fat in SL

Posted by marissa in Uncategorized on October 28th, 2007 |  No Comments »

I recently made my avatar fat. Actually, she’s not really fat by real world standards. In Second Life, where everyone is perfect, I was ready for some imperfection. In my quest for imperfection, I realized that I really understand proportions in a way many other avatars do not. For that reason, I decided to start making shapes for both men and women. Some of the shapes I have made fit the SL stereotypes, but not all of them do.

Soon my store’s doors will open (I will post a slurl at that time) and not only will I offer pre-made shapes, I will do custom jobs. I can help you recreate yourself, your neighbor, or even some famous jerk that probably doesn’t deserve recreation. In doing so, I will also help you to find skins, hair, and clothes to complete your look and fit your style.

I love having a bigger avatar. Clothes don’t fit me like they used to. In fact, I’ve actually broken a few outfits trying to make them bigger. Maybe I’m hoping for more fat awareness with myself. All I know is that I’ve never been complimented more.

Rant…Off Topic, Please Ignore :)

I am tired of reading the fashion blogs. Well, that’s not entirely true. I enjoy seeing when new designers have new designs. What I am tired of, however, are the people who “review” said items. There is one blogger in particular who labels entries as review entries and uses the space to simply take pictures of herself. Granted, I think most of the fashion bloggers are rather vain and enjoy having people look at them (hell, I posted pictures of myself in different outfits), but this one takes the cake. While each particular entry has the word “review” in it, there are never really any words posted except for what skin she has on, and what designer made her clothes. Why doesn’t she discuss the seams? Why doesn’t she critique the length? Why does she not gush about what she likes, or even bash what she hates? The biggest question I have, though, is why do people kiss her ass? It is honestly beyond my comprehension.

Why are designers so desperate to be blogged about? I suppose to be seen, to get your name out, is the most important part of having a business. I just wish the whole process wasn’t so loopy. So many bloggers expect designers to simply give them free stuff. It’s less about going out and finding new things, but rather just sitting back and waiting for stuff to come to them. Friendships are forged under what I believe to be are shady circumstances. Friends take precedence over newcomers to the fashion world and nepotism reigns supreme. Why do so many women put so much stock in what these (most likely male) avatars are doing and saying? One negative review and you can be ruined forever. Those women who follow these nameless bloggers are contributing to a flawed system. Instead of finding the latest and greatest, we are simply going to our old reliable brands. It’s sad and makes it hard for those new to the SL fashion world to make it. I think I’m going to claim a tragedy and see if I can get hundreds of people to buy me a new laptop.
